Early detection and diagnosis are critical to managing breast cancer. If mammography screening detects a breast abnormality, only a biopsy can determine whether the suspicious finding is benign or malignant.
Stereotactic breast biopsy is one method to obtain breast tissue for diagnosis. In addition to presenting a comprehensive overview of malignant breast diseases and biopsy techniques, this article describes the principles of stereotactic imaging, the advantages and limitations of stereotactic breast biopsy and procedural considerations.
